Harare, Zimbabwe – In Kuwadzana, a high-density residential suburb in the Zimbabwean capital Harare, the day begins as early as 5 am for many of the working class, from vegetable sellers to Thomas Gundawo (last name changed on request), a 19-year-old bus conductor.

For loading a 7-seater vehicle after soliciting passengers at the top of his voice at the bus stop, he gets ZWL$100 (US$0.45). By 8 am, he would have pocketed only about US$3, insufficient to buy food and either broncleer – a street drug mixture of cough syrup with alcohol and codeine – or dagga (marijuana).

University of Buea’s Vice Chancellor Announces Easter Break.

The students and staffs of the university are in contentment as the vice chancellor declares an Easter break .

Vice Chancellor(UB) Ngomo Horace Manga.

The vice chancellor of the University of Buea, Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga for the first time announced an Easter festive break for both staff and students. This break takes effect from today Thursday 14th April 2022 to Monday 17th April 2022. This is a great relief to students especially lecturers who barely had a time to rest as the first semester break was just so short (barely three weeks) to give them enough resting period after marking the first semester exams.

Press release by the vice chancellor-UB.

The vice chancellor in his kind nature decides to serve the staff and students of the university of Buea with a short break to enhance this Easter festive period. It is understood that the hosting of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon compelled the university of Buea to reschedule her events and provided little time for the year’s work, which the vice chancellor is now handling magnificently.

Egypt denies bidding to host the African Cup of Nation

The African Cup of Nation

According to an online site Kingfut, Former Egyptian and Al Ahly goalkeeper Ahmed Shobier have played down speculation regarding the hosting country of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations 2021, stating that it is expected to be hosted by Cameroon as planned.

The refusal comes after rumors had began to circulate that Cameroon might once again step down from being the hosts of AFCON 2021, in a repeat to the same scenario that occurred in 2019 when they withdrew their hosting bid for Egypt to step in and organise the event.

“Egypt did not make a bid to host the competition nor Cameroon have withdrawn their bid,” Shobier said on ON Time Sport TV.
“Cameroon stadiums are ready but they have some minor issues with the roads leading to the stadiums.”

AFCON 2021 is scheduled to start on January 9, 2022 until February 6, 2022. Egypt had qualified after finishing on top of Group G, alongside Comoros who finished second with nine points.

It took two decades for cameroon to record a win over Nigeria.

England waiting for Trent Alexander-Arnold update

Arnold in tears

After alot of speculations about Arnold’s inclusion into the three lions squard for Euro 2020, he was finally called up and in a friendly game against Austria may 2, he left the Pitch in tears after picking up an injury. England will assess the injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold in the next 24 to 48 hours, says boss Gareth Southgate after their 1-0 Euro 2020 warm-up win over Austria in Middlesbrough.

Alexander-Arnold’s inclusion in England’s Euro 2020 squad as one of four right-backs was a major talking point – but his tournament could be in doubt after he hurt himself making a late clearance.

“It’s not a good situation that he’s had to walk off in some discomfort,” Southgate told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“We’ll know more details in the next 24 to 48 hours. It looks like a thigh injury – in terms of the full extent, we don’t know yet.

“It’s devastating, he’s worked hard to earn a spot here. I just hope it’s not too serious.”

Benzema shines on his France return.

Benzema.

France strolled to a comfortable win over Wales on Wednesday night although he didn’t score and missed a penalty, Karim Benzema put in an excellent performance on his return to international duty.

Didier Deschamps sent a signal of intent to the rest of Europe by lining up with Benzema, Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann in attack, and Les Bleus showed their strength as the game went on.

It was clear early that Benzema was going to be no different for France as he has been for Real Madrid over the last two years, and he was involved in everything the world champions did in attack, linking nicely with Mbappe and Griezmann.

The Madrid forward almost found himself operating as a fourth midfielder at times, and the side had a nice balance to it.

They were helped by Wales spending much of the evening a man down, though. Nico Williams was sent off for handling in the area, present France with a penalty that Benzema missed.

Mbappe and Griezmann both scored before Ousmane Dembele sealed the win late on.
